Alexander Smalls harnessed the untapped potential that Africa has to offer the global food scene.Smalls established the first ever African dining hall, Alkebulan (pronounced al-kee-boulan).The name translates to ‘Mother of Mankind’ or ‘Garden of Eden’ which mimics that of the African continent in its rich and diverse culture consumed through its food, music, art and heritage design. The food hall combines the experience of gourmet dishes and street bites to fusion fare, all in one destination.
Where Wyld Motion came in first, was to find the location that acts as the hub for foodies, creatives, designers and musicians, which was found in Harlem, New York City. The NYC food hall is an expansion of the existing location that first opened in October of 2021 in Dubai as part of an expo and in turn has remained as a permanent outpost. The team is also working on an additional London location. In addition to this, Wyld Motion partnered with Smalls to fundraise and develop the menu for the Dubai expo.
As part of the Alkebulan larger mission, to provide African chefs with new opportunities as they are widely under-represented in the industry. This strongly aligned with our ethos of sharing our knowledge. As, we believe that we will enable whoever requires our support to be responsible for creating their own vision through our educational process.
